HH Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid receives HE Mariam Almheiri


His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department- Ajman (MPDA), received Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment in the United Arab Emirates, as they discussed a myriad of sustainability and comprehensive development promotion files.


At the beginning of the visit, His Highness welcomed Her Excellency and the accompanying delegation, hailing the qualitative projects, strategies and ambitious plans carried out by the Ministry to step up efforts to confront climate change, protect and sustain the environment, and support national food security. His Highness also hailed the Ministry’s preparations to host the COP28 Conference next November.



His Highness spoke highly of the relentless work to protect the environment, sustain natural resources, and preserve them for future generations, noting that all departments, institutions, and entities intensify their efforts and integrate their tasks to achieve the State’s vision geared towards creating a sustainable future for all.


For her part, Her Excellency Mariam Almheiri praised the existing collaboration and mutual coordination among all departments in the vital field, hailing the qualitative initiatives of Ajman under wise leadership whose efforts are harmonious with the visions and goals of the State in development field.


Her Excellency Mariam Almheiri said that the UAE exerts special efforts to create sustainable future for future generations, and actively contributes to global efforts in this field by fulfilling its climate and environmental obligations and spreading sustainability solutions all over the world through pioneering projects. “During this year’s COP28, we aspire to mobilize all countries around the world and proceed from pledge to action on the ground via projects and initiatives directed at protecting the globe,” Her Excellency said.


“Through the cooperation of all relevant authorities in the UAE, we are eager for organizing an exceptional edition of the COP28 commensurate with the UAE’s global standing in this field,” Her Excellency added.


Her Excellency Almheiri voiced her hearty thanks to the Emirate of Ajman, its leadership and institutions, which work hard to highlight the State’s efforts to the world and raise its profile as a global beacon of sustainability.
