For the Protection of the Health & Safety of the Society: 90% of Food & Health Facilities in Ajman are Adherent to the Laws & Legislations

The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman announced scoring a percentage of 90% in the food and health facilities’ adherence to the laws and legislations aiming for the protection of the health and safety of the members of the society, as per the report issued by the Department for the first half of 2022, along with stating that the percentage of adherence over the same period of 2020 was 84.5%, whereas such percentage in the past year, 2021, reached 88.71%.

 

In this regard, Eng. Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, the Executive Director of the Public Health & Environment Sector of the Department, stated: “The Department is aiming, based on direct instructions from H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, and the follow-up of H.E. Abdul Rahman Muhammed Al Nuaimi, the Department’s Director-General, to adopt policies that give the utmost attention to the health of citizens, residents and visitors. The Department has adopted a set of processes and initiatives for the attainment of the desired strategic objectives for the enhancement of food safety, health control, veterinary control, and prevention services against the prevalence of public health diseases.”

Al Hosani talked about the Department’s reliance on the competent human workforce that is undertaking ongoing inspection and control operations over the facilities. Furthermore, the Department has commissioned (Raqeeb) smart system for the management of inspections and Ajman public health program, which aims to promote the health education of the workers at facilities and to provide qualified staff according to the best global practices.

 

Al Hosani stated: “The laws and legislations that regulate the licensing procedures of food and health facilities, the health education and awareness programs for facilities owners and workers, the training and qualification of inspection and control staff according to the best practices and international accreditation certifications in the field of food safety and public health, have contributed to increasing the percentage of adherence amongst the facilities operating in the food and health field.”
