First Phase of Al Ittihad Street Project Completed, Opening from Border Ajman Street to Sheikh Khalifa St Intersection

The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman has completed the first phase of Al Ittihad Street project, opening the bridge to vehicle traffic from Border Ajman Street to Sheikh Khalifa St Intersection.

In this regard, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, stressed that the Department was able to complete the first stages ahead of the date set for completion, as part of its constant keenness to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of society. He indicated that the work has continued diligently since the beginning of development works in July 2022 to date.

Dr. Eng. Bin Omair said that the Department has provided 5 lanes in line with the volume of use to ensure that the street can accommodate 16,000 vehicles per hour, and also reduces the trip rate by 50%, appreciating the efforts of qualified staff and working groups that work to accomplish the vital project included in the second package projects of the initiative of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, to develop the emirate’s infrastructure, in line with the strategic objective of developing an integrated infrastructure and strengthening the interconnection between the elements of infrastructure and residential communities.

For his part, Eng. Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi, Director of Roads and Infrastructure Department, said that work on the project will continue till completion, to include the construction of a bridge on Al Ittihad Street consisting of three lanes for vehicles coming from the Emirate of Dubai towards Sheikh Khalifa intersection, with the provision of a traffic signal at Al Ittihad Street and Kuwait Street Intersection under the bridges, in addition to the completion of a bridge for those coming from Hassan Bin Haitham St and those heading out of the Emirate from Ajman Industrial Zone towards the Emirate of Sharjah. “The project will contribute to serving the infrastructure projects implemented in the emirate, including Al Nuaimiya development project, and improvement of the entrances to the emirate that are being developed in Al Talla area on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Street. The project also serves the future development of Al Ittihad Street”, he added.

The Department opened the bridge for the MPDA’s Rassed vehicles to cross, in preparation for the crossing of vehicles.
