Under the umbrella of Ajman Legacy and within Ajman Art initiatives, MPDA and Ajman Port and Customs inaugurated Liwara Square Model

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA), in cooperation with the Ajman Port and Customs Department, inaugurated the Liwara Square Model, which was constructed as part of the Ajman Art initiatives in the Liwara area. The opening ceremony came under the umbrella of Ajman Legacy, aimed to enhance the emirate’s authentic memory and deep-rooted identity.

 

The model was unveiled by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, Head of the Ajman Port and Customs Department, and His Excellency Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, MPDA’s Director General, in the presence of Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the MPDAs Infrastructure Development Sector, Dr. Eng. Alia Obaid Mejlad Al-Shamsi, Head of the project team, Designer Abdullah Al-Mulla, the project team, and a myriad of officials from the two departments.

On this occasion, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi praised the great and distinct efforts made by MPDA’s, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, to develop the infrastructure in Ajman, in an implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman and His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, geared towards at preserving the national and cultural identity and strengthening its components.

 

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, voiced his thanks and appreciation to everyone worked in this distinguished project, which comes with the aim to preserve our identity and cultural heritage.

 

For his part, His Excellency Abdul-Rahman Al-Nuaimi asserted that the MPDA takes pride in the constructive cooperation with the Ajman Port and Customs Department, noting that mutual coordination and strategic partnership achieve the best results. “Today, we are launching a model narrating the story of our fathers and grandfathers and the fishing craft, documents our values, customs and traditions, instills in the young generation the story of the very beginning of development, and reminds us of the importance of adhering to history and heritage”, he said.

 

For his part, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi gave a detailed explanation of the model, which is 7 meters long and cost half a million dirhams, pointing out that the work team decided to assign the model’s design to Emirati Designer Abdullah Al-Mulla, so that he would be able to come out with a creative idea of embodying the Gulf Sea, which enjoys a special place in the hearts of Ajman’s residents, and is associated with its historical heritage, as it is a source of goodness and livelihood and a natural wealth that benefit successive generations. He noted that that the model depicts a “gillnet” trapping in 365 fish, embodying the reward and harvest of men who spent long days at sea.

 

It is worth mentioning that Ajman Legacy seeks to launch vital projects serving as a unified umbrella for all present and future projects related to heritage and ancient history, and Ajman Art initiatives seek to promote art and creativity in the emirate.
