The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman announced that the total number of green buildings in the Emirate of Ajman has reached 16314 buildings by the end of 2025, in the course of the Department’s efforts to apply green building standards, uphold the concepts of environmental sustainability, and improve the competency of buildings, aligning with Ajman Vision 2030 for the creation of an urban environment that bolsters the Emirate’s attractiveness and quality of life.
The green buildings that have been implemented according to the accredited green building standards and stipulations aim to optimize energy use, rationalize water consumption, and improve the environmental performance of buildings throughout their lifecycle, starting from design and construction, up to operation and maintenance.
Enhance Sustainability & Improve Quality of Life
In this regard, Eng. Ahmed bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, the Department’s Deputy Director of the Buildings Department, confirmed: “The increasing number of green buildings conveys the Department’s commitment to the application of sustainable building standards, and its care for the adoption of the best practices that balance urban development requirements and enhance the sustainability of buildings.”
Eng. Al Nuaimi proceeded: “The green buildings initiative aims to enhance the Emirate’s level of sustainability by improving the performance of buildings, reducing energy and water consumption, and mitigating adverse environmental impacts, aligning with the Emirate’s trends in the field of sustainable development and quality of life improvement.”
The Inclusive Application of Green Building Stipulations
Eng. Al Nuaimi noted: “Green buildings in the Emirate include several use patterns that include private residential buildings, investment residential villas, and commercial residential villas, ensuring the inclusive application of green building stipulations in the urban sector.”
Eng. Al Nuaimi stated: “The Department adopts accredited methodologies and the highest global standards in instilling the principles of sustainability, a thing which emphasizes the realized positive results and enhances the optimized use of natural resources in the urban sector.”
It is notable that the Department is working on the creation of a sustainable urban environment and a developed infrastructure that would contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and optimize the use of resources, in what would support the creation of a healthy and attractive society and bolster the position of Ajman Emirate as a city that cares for the requirements of the present and foresees the horizons of the future.
