Proper Disposal of Electronic Waste
An environmental initiative aimed at promoting responsible practices for handling electronic waste and reducing its impact on the environment and public health by providing safe and convenient methods for its collection and disposal across the Emirate of Ajman.
Types of Electronic Waste
Tablets, headphones and microphones, external hard drives, smart home cameras, smartphones, laptops, desktop computers, printers, vacuum cleaners, television screens, electric heaters, microwaves, DVD players, gaming consoles, routers, and blenders.
Large Electronic Waste:
Large water heaters, air conditioners, large ovens, washing machines, freezers, and refrigerators.
Disposal Method
Accepted electronic waste can be placed in designated collection bins located across various areas of the Emirate. You can select the nearest collection bin in your area.
For large electronic appliances, a collection service can be requested by contacting the company authorized by the Department.
Proper Disposal of Used Cooking Oil
Used cooking oil is collected in designated containers. Individuals and establishments can request an oil collection container by contacting the authorized company directly. The company provides the container, collects the accumulated used oil, and handles it in accordance with approved procedures.
Participation is optional for individuals, with an incentive payment of approximately AED 1 per liter of used cooking oil collected. However, food establishments and factories are required to collect and dispose of used cooking oil in accordance with the approved procedures.
Requesting a Collection Container
Designated containers for collecting used cooking oil can be requested from the company authorized by the Department.
Zero-Carbon Schools
An initiative launched by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department to empower schools to reduce their carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices within the school environment, while fostering environmental awareness among students and younger generations.
The initiative encourages schools to implement practical solutions, including the use of solar energy, improving the efficiency of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, optimizing energy and resource consumption, and managing waste at the source. These efforts contribute to reducing emissions, improving the school environment, and supporting carbon neutrality goals.
Ajman Carbon Neutrality Initiative
A strategic initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the Emirate of Ajman and progressing toward carbon neutrality. The initiative focuses on measuring and managing emissions and implementing carbon-reduction projects across key sectors, supporting sustainability, improved air quality, and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Industrial Establishments’ Commitment to Achieving the Initiative’s Targets
Participation of industrial establishments within the scope of the initiative is mandatory. Establishments are required to provide the necessary emissions and operational data, calculate and report their carbon footprint, and cooperate in implementing approved emission-reduction requirements and plans in accordance with the guidelines.
This aims to ensure a comprehensive and accurate emirate-wide emissions inventory, strengthen the industrial sector’s contribution to Ajman’s carbon neutrality targets, and support gradual progress toward climate neutrality goals.
