MPDA Launches BIM Project To Enhance Building Permit Issuance

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) announced the launch of a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Project, a significant step that supports the development of the building permit issuance system and promotes the adoption of digital solutions in managing the construction sector. This aligns with the UAE’s digital transformation and government service development initiatives.

The MPDA organized an introductory meeting for stakeholders within the Emirate’s building approval system. During the meeting, the project’s objectives and scope of application within the building permit issuance phase were reviewed, aiming to familiarize relevant parties with the project’s developmental approaches.

Representatives from several relevant entities attended the meeting, including Ajman Police General Headquarters, the General Directorate of Civil Defence, EtihadWE, Ajman Sewerage, E& Emirates, and the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation.

In this context, Engineer Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director of the Buildings Department, asserted that the project relies on employing digital engineering models supported by data, which contributes to improving the quality of plans, enhancing the efficiency of technical review processes, and raising the accuracy of procedures related to issuing building permits.

He pointed out that the project will be implemented in well-planned phases that support the development of current procedures and establish an advanced digital system that promotes the move towards digital transformation and the smart city.

The project is considered an important step in developing the services of the construction sector in the Emirate, through the adoption of modern digital tools that support the quality of urban development outputs and raise the efficiency of regulatory procedures.
Project Overview

The BIM Project is one of the development initiatives initiated by the MPDA, with the aim to update and develop building permit issuance procedures by adopting an advanced digital methodology based on creating a 3D model of the building, linked to a comprehensive database containing all relevant engineering information.

This methodology enables relevant authorities to fully understand and visualize the project before implementation, contributing to improved quality of engineering plans, reduced errors and issues, and enhanced efficiency in review and approval processes.

The Project also plays great part in speeding up building permit issuance procedures, increases data accuracy, and raising level of coordination among various architectural disciplines, which positively impacts the quality of urban development.

The Project is carried out in phases, forming the foundation for an integrated digital system that supports the Emirate’s digital transformation goals and contributes to building more efficient and sustainable cities through the use of modern technologies in managing the construction sector.
