His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi asserted that the MPDA goes on with implementing its proactive plans to address the rainfall situation, by ensuring the readiness of rainwater drainage networks and pumping stations, and devoting technical and engineering cadres to guarantee rapid response and continuity of services across the Emirate.

Field tour of rainwater drainage projects

The field tour included the rainwater drainage network project in the Al Raqaib area, which collects rainwater and directs it to a designated lake, along with inspecting the lake, 120 x120 meters long and 7 meters deep, located at the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, which receives rainwater from the roads developed as part of the Sheikh Zayed Road project in the Al Helio area.

The tour also included a visit to the rainwater pumping station on Sheikh Zayed Road and the rainwater drainage pumping station as part of the project to construct two bridges on Al Ittihad Street, along with reviewing the progress of the new pumping station project on As-Salam Street, which is still under construction.

Monitoring pumping stations and ongoing projects

His Excellency emphasized that these field visits are part of the MPDA’s keenness to enhance infrastructure efficiency and ensure the effective operation of rainwater drainage projects during rainfall, ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety of road users.

Ajman Relief Team

In this vein, the Ajman Relief’s emergency teams commenced their work across the Emirate, operating through four field teams that monitor rainwater accumulation sites and support field readiness. This comes as part of an operational system using an 81.65-kilometer rainwater drainage network, 28 pumping stations supported by 72 pumps, a team of 60 engineers and specialists, and 173 support staff.

Continued field monitoring

The field teams continue to carry out their tasks in direct coordination with the water, roads, and emergency teams, thus contributing to expediting water drainage operations, monitoring vital sites, and maintaining smooth traffic flow.

The MPDA confirms its continued readiness to monitor weather developments and harness all available resources to ensure the continuity of services and enhance the efficiency of infrastructure in the Emirate of Ajman, calling everybody to contact the Ajman Call Center on 80070 for observations, reports, or complaints related to the rainfall situation, around the clock.
