The achieved indicators embody the rapid progress eyed by the construction and urban development sector in the Emirate, both at the level of residential, commercial, and investment projects, reflecting the dynamism of the real estate market and the growing demand for quality projects that meet the requirements of future development.

Sustainable development efforts

For his part, Engineer Ahmed bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director of the Buildings Department, affirmed that the Department is continuing its diligent efforts to develop the building permit system by adopting comprehensive digital transformation and employing the latest smart technologies and artificial intelligence solutions, thus contributing to raising the efficiency of operations, expediting transactions, and enhancing the accuracy of procedures and the quality of outputs.

Building Information Modeling

Al Nuaimi went on to discuss the projects that have contributed to developing the permit issuance system, including the Building Information Modeling (BIM) project. This project adopts an advanced digital methodology based on creating a comprehensive three-dimensional model of the building, supported by an accurate and comprehensive database. This project contributes to improving the quality of engineering plans, reducing errors and observations, and enhancing the efficiency of review and approval processes. It also accelerates permit issuance procedures and raises the level of coordination between various engineering disciplines. Furthermore, the project represents a fundamental pillar in supporting the emirate’s drive towards digital transformation and establishing the concepts of sustainability and innovation in the construction sector, thus contributing to building a more efficient, higher-quality, and sustainable urban environment.

Updating Building Regulations and Requirements

Al Nuaimi pointed out that the Department is currently working on implementing a project to update building and planning regulations and requirements, as part of its around-the-clock efforts to develop an integrated urban system that keeps pace with the Emirate’s rapid growth. The project aims to create a modern regulatory framework that enhances the efficiency of the construction sector and reinforces the principles of sustainability and transparency. This will be achieved by updating building and planning requirements in accordance with best international practices and developing advanced digital tools that support decision-making and facilitate access to information. The project will also contribute to raising the quality of the built environment, enhancing the Emirate’s attractiveness for investment, and supporting its drive towards building a sustainable and integrated society, in line with its future vision and development aspirations.
