The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman announced that the Building Material Testing Laboratory issued more than 27 thousand reports within the first quarter of 2026, embodying the continuation of the building and construction boom in the Emirate, aligning with the strategic goal for an inclusive urban management, and in line with the trends of Ajman Vision 2030 for the creation of an urban environment that enhances the Emirate’s attractiveness and quality of life.
In this regard, Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al-Hosani, the Executive Director of the Department’s Public Health & Environment Sector, emphasized: “Building material testing reports are an essential pillar in ensuring the quality of projects. Such reports are issued after the samples are passed through a series of tests according to global standards, such as ASTM, BS and EN, including the assessment of the physical, mechanical and chemical characteristics of the materials, to ensure that the used materials are conformant to the highest standards and specifications.”
Diversity of Tests
Dr. Eng. Al-Hosani stated: “The first quarter of the current year witnessed emphasis on a collection of vital tests, most notably, concrete tests, such as drop and pressure resistance, and soil tests, in addition to tests for reinforcing steel, asphalt substances and gravel, besides sustainability and durability tests and chemical tests.”
Urban Expansion in the Emirate
From his side, Eng. Abdulla Al-Tamimi, the Director of the Department’s Central Laboratories, stated: “The Emirate of Ajman is witnessing an urban expansion and a sustainable increase in infrastructure, building and construction projects. The issued reports reflect the increasing demand for testing services, amidst the continuation of construction projects, where the volume of demand for the Laboratory’s services is associated with several main factors, including the expansion of construction and developmental projects, tightened quality and technical control requirements, the increased awareness of customers on the importance of laboratory tests, and compliance with the codes and legislations regulating the building sector.”
Digital Transformation & Acceleration of Procedures
Al-Tamimi noted: “The Laboratory has implemented several initiatives for the improvement of customer experience, including accelerating the procedures for the collection and delivery of samples, the provision of integrated electronic services, and reducing the time for the issuance of reports by linking with AMAR system”, while he added: “The use of smart systems has contributed to improving the competency of sample tracking, reducing the time of the testing cycle, and improving data accuracy. Work is going on under the umbrella of LIMS system”
Future Vision
It is notable that the Laboratory is adopting future plans, which include the adoption of the latest technologies of testing and analysis, besides the development of the technical personnel and the expansion of the scope of international accreditations, bolstering its position as a reliable center on both the regional and international levels, and supporting the journey of innovation and digital transformation in the Emirate of Ajman.
