Establishments fully comply with health and safety standards .. MPDA conducts extensive inspection campaign for Mid-Sha’ban Night

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) conducted an extensive inspection campaign of food establishments in the Emirate of Ajman in preparation for the Mid-Sha’ban Night celebrations (Haq Al Laila). This comes as part of the MPDA’s keenness to ensure the safety and quality of food products offered in the markets, and protect consumer health during peak seasons with higher-than-ever demand for food, in line with the Ajman Vision 2030 and the MPDA’s strategic objective of enhancing food management.

Full Compliance of Food Establishments

The MPDA noted that the campaign included assessing the extent to which food establishments comply with approved health requirements, ensuring that the products offered conform to standard specifications, and focusing on the safety of storage processes, general hygiene levels, and food handling methods to guarantee their non-exposure to contamination or spoilage.

Test results confirmed full compliance for the samples collected during the campaign, reflecting the commitment of food establishments and their products to health and food safety standards, and enhancing consumer confidence in local markets.

Applying Best Health Practices

In this connection, Dr. Eng. Khalid Mu’in Al Hosani, the MPDA Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, asserted that the campaign is part of an integrated monitoring plan implemented by the MPDA to ensure food safety and protect the health of community members. Full compliance reflects the awareness and commitment of food establishments to applying best health practices, and simultaneously embodies the efforts of the MPDA and regulatory bodies in the country to enhance the food safety system, he noted.

The MPDA’s Public Health Department conducted comprehensive field surveys of markets and shopping centers across the Emirate of Ajman, collecting food samples of sweets, juices, and the most consumed promotional offers during this period to ensure they conform with the specifications approved by the competent authorities, Al Hosani added.

Al Hosani noted that the samples were tested at the MPDA’s Central Food Laboratories using the cutting-edge laboratory technologies. The tests included chemical and microbiological analyses, component analysis, and ensured that the products were free of any harmful substances or contaminants that could be dangerous to consumer health.

It is worth mentioning that the MPDA carries out its inspection and monitoring campaigns on a regular basis, calling on owners of food establishments to continue to comply with health requirements, with the aim to promote public health and protect the consumer.
