Within the initiatives of His Highness the President of the UAE, the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure partially opened today, Saturday, Al-Hamidiya Bridge project on Sheikh Zayed Street in Ajman amidst traffic movement, with the presence of H.E. Eng. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Mansouri, the Ministry’s Undersecretary, H.E. Abdul-Rahman Al-Nuaimi, the Director-General of the Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman, and a number of the Ministry’s and the Department’s officials.
The project takes place within an integrated plan of sustainable improvement, and in the course of the ongoing efforts to develop the infrastructure and bolster the adequacy of the road network in the Emirate of Ajman, supporting total development targets, enhancing the quality of life in the Emirate, and coping with urban growth and increasing traffic movement on Sheikh Zayed Street.
Works have been completed for the 1100-meter bridge, consisting of four lanes in every direction, with upper lighting works, while works are going on in the lower intersections, sidewalks, parking spaces and stormwater drainage works, in addition to the road linking Sheikh Zayed Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, and the bridge connected to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street. It is expected to complete all works by the end of the current year.
The project contributes to the mitigation of traffic congestion on Sheikh Zayed Street and enhances the smoothness of traffic movement, and also aims to reduce the time of trips by 60%, facilitating access to the residential and services areas connected with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street and the areas of Al-Hamidiya and Al-Rashidiya, as well as vital facilities, such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Hospital, which is under implementation, and Zayed Educational Complex at Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed City.
In role, Ajman Police undertook considerable efforts to facilitate traffic movement and regulate traffic during the implementation stages of the project, by ongoing field coordination and the implementation of efficient traffic plans, a thing which has contributed to ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles and reducing the impacts of construction works on road users.
