The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman announced the opening of Sheikh Zayed Street Development project at Al-Helio, having a length of 2.8 km and costing a total amount of AED 63 million, in line with the trends of Ajman Vision 2030 for the construction of an integrated and sustained system of transport, and in consistency with the strategic objective for improving the quality and interconnection of the infrastructure.
In this regard, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al-Muhairi, the Executive Director of the Department’s Infrastructure Sector, stated: “The project aligns with the plans for the development of the integrated infrastructure and the enhancement of smooth traffic movement, and it supports the attainment of the strategic objective for improving the competency and quality of transport and infrastructure projects in the Emirate.”
3 Lanes Throughout Sheikh Zayed St. at Al-Helio
Dr. Eng. Bin Omair stated: “The project targeted the development of Sheikh Zayed Street at Al-Helio, by the addition of a lane to become 3 lanes in every direction, along with providing a stormwater drainage network and lighting poles, and the organization of sidewalks and parking lots, as well as the implementation of two intersections with traffic signs to organize traffic in the area, contributing to the enhancement of traffic safety, especially that the project has been completed in a vital area that witnesses a traffic movement all around the clock.”
Facilitating Traffic Movement Between Main Streets
From his side, Eng. Abdullah Mustafa Al-Marzooqi, the Director of the Department’s Road & Infrastructure Department, stated: “The developmental project will contribute to facilitating traffic movement in the area, as well as passage movement towards Emirates Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, and it facilitates access to of Al-Yasmeen, Al-Amera, Al-Helio and Al-Zahiya areas.”
It is notable that the project was designed according to the highest standards in the implementation of intersections to provide easier and safer access to the desired destinations.
