In the presence of Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Ajman Municipality Department and Alserkal Company sign a Cooperation Agreement for Collection, Transport and Processing Waste Oils in COP28

In the presence of H.E Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman signed a cooperative agreement with Envirol – Alserkal Company at the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). The purpose is to initiate joint coordination regarding collecting and transporting waste oils and grease, as well as extracting and treating them using optimal methods, This aligns with the collaborative efforts across all entities and departments to attain sustainability, coinciding with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Department by His Excellency H.E. Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department, while the agreement was signed on behalf of the company by His Excellency Ahmad Bin Eisa Alserkal, Chairman Alserkal Group, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

The memorandum is the outcome of committed endeavors to execute top-notch projects that benefit all. The project positively impacts the environment and aids in guaranteeing the proper disposal of waste oils, in accordance with international standards and guidelines. This helps in maintaining a safe, sustainable, and disease-free environment.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi emphasized that the agreement ensures the attainment of optimal results and aligns with Ajman government’s strategic plan, as well as the joint efforts to support sustainable development in the public health and environment sector in Ajman. He highlighted the Department’s comprehensive approach and commitment to implementing beneficial projects that have a positive impact on all aspects of life.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Alserkal expressed the company’s pride in enhancing collaboration with the Department and promoting constructive work to educate the proper disposal of oily waste. This involves leveraging collective experiences, exchanging studies and expertise, and aiming to enhance institutional work and achieve mutual strategic objectives.

The memorandum establishes the groundwork for technical cooperation and proper disposal of oily waste, including cleaning oil and grease traps and ensuring their disposal in compliance with environmental requirements and domestic and international standards. It also emphasizes the importance of environmental protection and reducing the environmental footprint.
