The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) organized two partner councils to discuss files related to the future of food safety in Ajman and the sustainability of the marine environment, in continuation of the series of future councils that MPDA periodically holds with its strategic partners to identify challenges and find solutions that benefit all.

 

In this connection, Engineer Noura Rashid Shattaf, MPDA’s Executive Director of the Strategy and Customer Happiness Sector, asserted that the councils are held to achieve the MPDA’s forward-looking vision, spread the positive culture, its tools and goals, and enhance readiness in handling all successive changes, in cooperation with the strategic partners, highlighting the important role of partners in the continuity of desired success and development.

 

MPDA decided to organize two councils to discuss one of the most important vital files, which necessitates determination, intensified efforts, employing drivers of change and the best programs, projects and platforms to achieve the desired goals, Shattaf noted.

 

The first council, themed “The Future of Food Safety in the Emirate”, with the participation of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Scientific Research Institute, kicked off with reviewing four scenarios that employ technological development, knowledge and science to ensure the achievement of food safety in Ajman. The partners agreed on the need to move forward in implementing projects and programs designed to preserving the health and safety of everyone, appreciating the positive outcomes of the current projects, which include the Ajman Public Health Program, the Capabilities of Food Laboratories Development project, the promotion of animal health in Ajman, the ease of business, in addition to the general environmental policy.

 

The second council, themed” Sustainability of the Marine Environment and Fisheries, in the presence of the strategic partners, included a review of the most important development initiatives carried out during the last period, including partnership with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Climate and Environmental Change for fish surveys in the state, and participation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the national strategy for the sustainability of the marine environment and fisheries, the effective participation in the national program for monitoring and controlling sea water quality, and studying heavy metals in fish and microplastics in oyster areas in the emirate, in addition to the partnership with Gömböc.
