His Excellency Abdul Rahman al-Nuaimi, Director General of Ajman Municipality & Planning Department, today inaugurated a digital twin of the Ajman X Centre. The launch aligns with the UAE Innovation Month 2023, a consolidated effort by the country to facilitate a widespread culture of innovation and the declaration of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed annotating 2023 as “Year of Sustainability”.
In this regard, H.E. Al Nuaimi highlighted that the Ajman X Centre has succeeded in achieving the objectives outlined at the time of its establishment, which included creating a forum for government teams from various sectors to address problems and accomplish challenging tasks quickly, accelerate the implementation of services, programmes, policies, and regulations, foster an entrepreneurial and innovative culture within the government and expand knowledge sharing.
Ajman X Centre’s digital twin will use virtual smart roaming in brainstorming laboratories, an Artificial Intelligence laboratory, a state-of-the-art digital library, and accelerators for projects launched at the beginning of the UAE Innovation Month. By leveraging the virtual platform, Ajman X Centre will provide researchers and innovators with access to powerful tools to create unique solutions.
His Excellency continued, “Every year, the Department commemorates the UAE Innovation Month by launching projects aimed at enhancing quality of life and happiness of the community, and we are proud to collaborate with strategic partners in the fields of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence,” noting that the current UAE Innovation will focus on sustainability of the environment and building a greener future for all.
At the launch event, Jasim Al Awadi, the Acting Chief ICT Officer at du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company (EITC), delivered a keynote address expressing pride in du’s long-standing collaboration with of Ajman Municipality & Planning Department to accelerate the pace of digital transformation in line with the UAE’s national agenda.
He said: “Our longstanding cooperation is committed to building a thriving innovation ecosystem, and we are delighted to be a part of Ajman’s digital future.”
Al Awadi added, “During the month of February, du will be hosting specialised workshops for Ajman Municipality & Planning Department employees. This will help empower professionals with skills and technical knowledge in various fields of sustainability, information technology, and innovation, to ensure that next-generation technologies like AI and IoT are utilized to their full potential.”
Along the sidelines of the UAE Innovation Month 2023, the Ajman Municipality & Planning Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ShaikhTech, a Dubai based Technology Company, to share expertise and facilitate collaboration on projects in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and 3D VR technologies.
On behalf of the Department, the agreement was signed by Sheikha Noura Hamid Al Nuaimi, Director of Ajman X Centre. Sheikha Al Nuaimi stated that all organisations, businesses, and institutions are putting forth significant effort to meet the demands of the digital future and that the Department is fostering relationships to find digital solutions that benefit the entire ecosystem. She reaffirmed that the goal of the partnership is to fulfil the strategy of the Ajman government by jointly promoting and facilitating the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence with public sector services, as well as boost the level of innovation.
The founder and CEO of ShaikhTech, Zeeshan Shaikh also praised the department’s efforts and willingness to expand the scope of cooperation and digital projects that will benefit the community as a whole.
At the event, ten key leaders in the fields of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence outlined their projects and services in multiple fields including technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Throughout the month, Ajman Municipality & Planning Department will continue to organize multiple training workshops in cooperation with du along with interactive sessions covering AI and 5G technologies to further advance sustainable development and digital transformation of the UAE.
