The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman declared the completion of its preparations for the new school year, by a package of preventive and control procedures that ensure providing a safe and healthy school environment for students and the teaching staff.
Food Safety at Schools
In this regard, Dr. Eng. Khaled Moeen Al-Hosani, the Executive Director of the Public Health & Environment Sector, stated: “The Department has approved food suppliers for schools within a service for the approval of food suppliers, to verify food safety at educational institutions, in addition to training the persons in charge of school canteens on the best health practices, and the implementation of a plan for the periodic analysis of school food samples, free-of-charge, to ensure the health and safety of students.”
The Safety of Everybody is Top Priority
Dr. Eng. Al-Hosani added: “The sector has intensified its efforts in liaison with the strategic partners for the implementation of control and inspection campaigns for schools within the Emirate, and the approval of swimming pools at educational buildings in consistency with the applicable health and safety standards, beside conducting environmental measurements of indoor air in classrooms and school laboratories.”
Various Programs & Initiatives
Furthermore, Dr. Eng. Al-Hosani emphasized: “The Department is implementing integrated pest control programs within the perimeters of schools, beside launching periodic awareness and educational programs in the fields of public health, food safety, and environmental protection, in cooperation with educational institutions and strategic partners, in what would enhance communal awareness and support providing a healthy and safe educational environment.”
Safety is Priority
Within a related context, the Department has installed, over the past period, more caution signboards to reduce speed in front of schools, in the course of caring for the safety of the students.”
