His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman, praised the Department for earning the International Employee Happiness and Wellbeing Standard Certificate (IEHWS2023), awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI). The Department achieved an exceptional score of 99.38% in the “Transformational Leadership Organization” category, marking a first-of-its-kind achievement among all municipalities in the country, and also the first among government entities in the Emirate of Ajman.
His Highness received the certificate in the presence of an official delegation from BSI, which included the Commercial Director for Southern Europe and the IMETA region, as well as the Business Development Director. During the meeting, the importance and significance of this international standard were highlighted, particularly in enhancing workplace quality and motivating human resources.
A Sustainable Approach to Employee Happiness
His Highness valued the efforts of the ambitious talents who have adopted a sustainable approach to employee happiness and have worked collectively to foster a positive work environment and embed the principles of institutional happiness and workplace wellbeing, in alignment with the world’s best practices in institutional excellence.
His Highness stated, “We believe that investing in our talents is the essence of our distinction, superiority, and one of the most important pillars of institutional success,” expressing his pride in the certificate, which embodies the Department’s leadership in adopting international standards and working as one unified, family-like team.
Integrated Efforts
For his part, Mr. Mohammed Ali Almheiri, Director of the Human Resources Department at the Municipality, presented a detailed explanation to His Highness about the efforts made. He explained that the Department had formed an integrated working team that included talents from the Human Resources Department, the Service Centers Department, and the Strategy and Institutional Excellence Department, with a view to implementing a clear plan to achieve the Specification goals.
It is worth noting that the work teams developed a comprehensive plan aligned with the detailed requirements of the international standard, which is based on eight main pillars: values-based leadership, work environment climate, job control, teamwork, organizational effectiveness, rewards and recognition, performance measurement, and performance outcomes. These initiatives have contributed to enhancing the work environment and achieving institutional excellence in line with global best practices.
