The Building Materials Testing Laboratory of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) issued 38,898 reports, according to the MPDA’s statistics for the first half of 2024.
In this connection, Eng. Abdullah Al Tamimi, Director of the MPDA’s Central Laboratories Department, asserted that the laboratory specializing in testing basic materials used in building and engineering projects such as roads and buildings, provides customers with two basic services; examining and matching building materials with specifications, and site survey. It includes a soil laboratory, an iron laboratory, an asphalt laboratory, an aggregate laboratory, a ready-mix concrete products laboratory, and a chemistry laboratory, in line with the strategic goal of ensuring comprehensive urban management and sustainable construction and building.
Eng. Al Tamimi said that the number of reports issued by the Laboratory eyed an increase compared to the same period in the past two years, as it issued 30,264 reports during the first half of 2023, while issued 27,895 reports during the same period in 2022, explaining that the increase embodies the sustainable growth in the field of comprehensive urban renaissance, and simplified procedures and sped up examinations contributed to achieving the positive increase.
Customer can submit an examination request through the Amar system and then personally attend the laboratory building to deliver samples, Eng. Al Tamimi added, stressing that efforts are being made to achieve a complete smart transformation by launching the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to enable the customer to enjoy ideal services, Al Tamimi added.
It is worth mentioning that the Laboratory examines and controls the quality of materials used in building operations and ensure their compliance with the required standard specifications, to achieve sustainability of buildings and ensure that the requirements and expectations of customers are met.
