Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) to strengthen and promote their ongoing collaboration. This agreement reflects their commitment to advancing the objectives outlined by the wise directions of the State in general and the Emirate of Ajman in particular in areas of mutual interest, and their role in scientific studies and research related to the environment and sustainable urban development.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Department by its Director General, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, and on behalf of ICESCO by His Excellency Salem Omar Salem, the Director of the Regional Office Regional, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
In this context, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi emphasized that the Department aims to enhance relationships and joint collaboration with all key stakeholders in the sustainability sector, highlighting the importance of integrating efforts and aligning objectives related to the execution of scientific research and studies grounded in empirical evidence and innovation, particularly concerning air quality, emissions, clean energy, carbon neutrality, and the impactful contribution to environmental issues.
For His part, His Excellency Salem Omar Salem conveyed his pride in collaborating with the Department, commending its initiatives in vital sectors. He noted that ICESCO aims to strengthen both existing and future avenues of collaboration with the Department, leverage shared experiences, and facilitate the exchange of studies and research focused on enhancing corporate operations to foster a partnership between the two entities to realize shared strategic objectives and to coordinate areas of joint work.
The MoU outlines the necessity for active engagement and collaboration in executing joint initiatives, as well as cooperation on projects and programs within the Emirate of Ajman aimed at improving air quality in the context of sustainable development. It also emphasizes the sharing of success stories, case studies, and best practices related to sustainable city strategies and projects, along with the organization of joint workshops, seminars, conferences, and events to foster the exchange of ideas regarding air quality and carbon neutrality.
The MoU outlines the exploration of potential opportunities in research and development projects focused on carbon neutrality and innovation, aimed at environmental preservation and sustainability, as well as assessing partnerships in renewable energy initiatives.
The MoU establishes the general framework for collaboration between the two parties across all agreed-upon areas, detailing the overall structure of collaboration in technical processes and technologies pertinent to the delivery of these services.
