Ajman X Center of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, hosted a delegation from Ajman Transport Authority for a benchmarking visit. The purpose of this visit was to learn about best practices and leading experiences in institutional innovation management, and to exchange knowledge and expertise between the two entities.
In this context, Sheikha Dr. Noura Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Innovation Advisor and Director of Ajman X Center, received the delegation from the Transport Authority. She highlighted the significance of constructive visits that aim to strengthen collaboration and integrate efforts among government entities to establish a prominent national innovation system.
Best practices in innovation
During the meeting, the Center presented its work methodologies and mechanisms for fostering the innovation ecosystem within the Department, in addition to innovation’s connection with government excellence based on the latest international standards, and the working methods of innovation labs, and the supporting digital infrastructure. The Center also introduced electronic platforms designed for idea management, encouraging employees to actively engage in proposing innovative ideas and converting them into actionable projects.
Benchmarking Pillars
The benchmarking exercise concentrated on three primary pillars: the innovation mechanism and idea management, institutional innovation indicators, and the connection between innovation and institutional and governmental excellence. This was conducted within the context of collaborative efforts to enhance the institutional innovation system, increase employee involvement in idea submission, and promote institutional excellence through the adoption of a comprehensive innovative approach.
Creative ventures and endeavours
The meeting featured a discussion on several innovative projects and initiatives carried out by the Department, particularly the smart irrigation project, the autonomous cleaning vehicle, the young programmer initiative, an innovation day for every department, and smart parking, as well as a conversation about the international awards and certifications obtained by the Department in innovation.
Recommendations
The visit ended with a series of recommendations, which involved enhancing governance in managing innovation, creating electronic tools and systems to aid institutional innovation, fostering a culture of innovation among staff through certified training programs, and ensuring a work environment that encourages creative thinking and productivity.
The visiting delegation acknowledged the efforts of Ajman X Center in enhancing the institutional innovation ecosystem, commending the advanced practices adopted by the Department in this area, and suggested ongoing visits focused on sharing experiences and gathering insights for improving the work system.
