His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA), received the Excellence Shield, as the MPDA won the Best Cultural Project Award for 2023 for the Heritage Path Project, in the MEED Projects Awards 2023, at the level of the United Arab Emirates.

His Highness asserted that the MPDA takes pride in the award, that is added to its record rich in creativity and achievement, noting that the award eyes wide demand and receives multiple entries from myriad entities and departments in the state, and the MPDA could win the award for the contribution of the Heritage Path Project in highlighting the authentic identity and ancient history of Ajman, and focusing on sensorial and visual legacies.

His Highness voiced the MPDA’s keenness to participate in the award, which enjoys a privileged status, so that qualified competencies can introduce the project that the MPDA worked on completing during the past period to embody the spirit of the place and bring together the ancient past with development on the existing, hailing the efforts of the ambitious resources that won the award in its 13th session.

For his part, Dr\Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the MPDA’s Infrastructure Development Sector, noted that the project is in line with the objectives of Ajman’s 2040 urban plan. It includes four areas characterized by a smooth old-modern mixture, Al Muhairi said, adding that the 1,025-km-long path connects the heritage buildings, from the Rashid Al Khader House, through the Ajman Museum, the Heritage District, Souq Saleh, and the heritage buildings in the Nakhil area, to the Waterfront.

Al Muhairi went on saying that the project highlights the ancient aesthetic, cultural, heritage and historical value of Ajman, which qualifies it to be a model that can be generalized at local, regional and international levels.
