The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) announced achievement of 99.9% of the generated quantity of treated water. The amount of treated wastewater used in agriculture has reached 4,995,000 cubic meters, according to the report issued by the MPDA for the first half of 2023.
In this connection, Eng. Khalid Moeen Al-Hosani, MPDA’s Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, asserted that MPDA seeks to achieve the sustainable development goals and optimal utilization of resources, and to achieve the strategic goal of promoting integrated waste management.

Mutual cooperation with success partners takes part in achieving the best results in the vital field that influence all aspects of life, he said, adding that the MPDA provided a qualitative experience in cooperation with the Ajman Sewerage Company, to treat and reuse the wastewater under specified plans.
Al-Hosani noted that the treatment process is done within the triple treatment system, one of the latest wastewater treatment technologies. When process completed, sampling takes place to ensure the quality of the treated water in accordance with international standards and specifications. Qualified cadres carry out the tests based on precise techniques and scanning devices, to decide use in irrigating green spaces, he added.
It is worth mentioning that the MPDA has been working on extending irrigation lines that feed the various agricultural projects in Ajman with treated wastewater, including landscaping and agricultural projects of development projects.
