Masfoot and Manama’s Preparations to Host the Spring Festival

HE Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, confirmed that preparations are in full swing to host Masfoot and Manama’s Spring Festivals in their third edition, which will be launched under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department, on December 13. He pointed out to the Department’s keenness to provide all that is necessary for the festivals to rise to the State’s cultural, tourist, youth, and sports standing.

His Excellency added that the Department’s hosting of such events and festivals reflects the country and the wise leadership’s interest in highlighting the UAE’s cultural advancement and historical role, making it a starting point towards more prospects of culture and internal tourism.

For his part, Mr. Salem Abdullah bin Ghalita, Director of the Municipality of Manama, emphasized the importance of facilitating all necessary arrangements and coordination to create a cultural space where local and Arab folk art groups will be performing and taking part in a cultural and artistic gathering in the gardens of Al Manama Museum. The festival will be also dedicating a booth for the traditional market of productive families, which is set to include heritage products that reflect the Emirati heritage and rich past. Moreover, prizes will be awarded through weekly draws as part of the heritage competition and activity programs.

Seif Ghadeer Al Ketbi, Director of the Masfoot Office, affiliated to the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, said that a “heritage village” will be put together involving productive families and business women from across the region who will display their heritage products that emerge from the authenticity of the Emirati heritage. The festival that will be held at the Al Warqa park in Masfoot seeks to introduce the new generation to the heritage of the founding fathers and the importance of preserving it. Draws will be held on valuable prizes, in addition to cultural competitions that will be held on an outdoor stage. Cooking competitions will be held for ladies, in addition to heritage-related competitions and cultural games. The festival will also include folk art group performances and plays written and directed by Emirati actors.
