Ammar Al Nuaimi receives a copy of the First Sustainability Report of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department


His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, received a copy of the First Sustainability Report of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department prepared in accordance with the GRI standards. The report involves four chapters: Sustainability and Ajman Municipality, Managing our Environmental Footprint, Community Health and Well-being, and Our Infrastructure and Impact on Communities.

  In presence of HE Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Engineer Noura Rashid Shattaf, Executive Director of Customer Happiness Sector, Fatima Mohammed Al Mulla, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence, and Rahab Ali Ikhlasi, Director of Initiative, His Highness listened to a detailed illustration of the Report’s content and its significance to the future of Ajman. As well, the Report indicated the achievements of the Department, its performance in supporting sustainable development goals and its contribution to environmental, economic and social sustainability.

  Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department, said that the content of the report has been prepared in order to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders so that such needs are reflected in key chapters enhancing the leading practices of the Department in corporate governance, transparency and disclosure. All society segments can review the Report through the Department’s official channels. 

  In the presentation, Engineer Noura Rashid Shattaf explained the importance of this Report, which was based on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The Department’s First Sustainability Report was prepared and involved the achievements and performance of the Department for the period 2017-2018 in the three sustainability areas: (environmental, economic and social sustainability). The topics of the Report were identified based on the needs of internal and external stakeholders. The Report involves four major chapters, first of which is Sustainability and Ajman Municipality that included organizational structure, governance structure, sustainable developments goals in addition to the Department’s Center for Sustainability Research. The second chapter is Managing our Environmental Footprint.

The key components of the second chapter involve Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Pollution and Waste Management, Biodiversity, and Water Management. The third chapter is Community Health and Well-being involving Occupational Health and Safety, Our Community and Our Employees, and Food Safety while the fourth chapter is Our Infrastructure and Impact on Communities of which most important content is Investment in Sustainable Infrastructure and Roads.
