6000 Parking lots in the Emirate Subjected to Paid Parking Service by Department of Municipality


In order to reorganize parking in the Emirate, the Department of Municipality and Planning subjected 6000 parking lots in Ajman to paid parking service in 2020, in order to provide several parking lots to the emirate’s population, visitors, tourists and companies and stores owners. 

Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Department of Municipality & Planning confirmed that Parking Division has developed a comprehensive plan which includes all the regions of the Emirate to regulate parking and all people the opportunity to fairly benefit from services and to not use parking lots in random manner and for long periods, which will increase the turnover of parking use.

Dr. Mohammed bin Omair stressed that in its plan for the current year, the Department provided parking lots in Al Nuaimia Street and the adjacent region, Salam Street, Sheikh Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street, Etihad Road Phase III, in addition to Heritage District. He indicated the Department seeks to provide an investment-friendly environment and find appealing factors for society members to enjoy all accessible services, upon direction of HH Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department and follow-up of His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, the Director General of the Department.

For his part, Mr. Hameed Al Falasi, Head of Parking Division at the Department said that the Department of Municipality made smart payment channels available for customers for parking fee payment. These consist in MPDA application and SMS message service. The Department is keen to direct customers to minimize the use of traditional devices in light of the current circumstances faced by all amidst the continuous spread of COVID19. 

Al Falasi added that the Department established a plan to promote the payment channels through smart applications and modern channels in line with the UAE directions and its vision to activate the smart systems in all fields and not to use the traditional payment channels, in support of its plan to transform parking to smart parking.
