His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Opens Ajman Fourth Forum on Sustainability, Low Energy Architecture and Climate change

His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman opened the Fourth Ajman Forum on Sustainability, Low Energy Architecture and Climate change, which was held in cooperation with the World Renewable Energy Network and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), at the AjmanX Center. The forum was also attended by Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz Ali Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Al Ihsan Charity Association”.

 

His Highness stressed that this forum comes at a time when the world is keen on moving towards sustainable development to create a modern environment that meets the needs of the present and the future. He explained that our region poses a great challenge for decision makers , especially in light of the environmental challenges that the world is starting to witness such as climate change, and the increasing demand on natural resources like water, food and energy.

 

His Highness also stated that the department always seeks solutions to address such challenges regionally and globally, which is why the department has put forward strategic goals to achieve the Ajman Vision for 2021, as well as achieving the UAE’ National Agenda indicators. He added that the department always organizes such forums and conferences to benefit from the experiences of local, regional and international institutions and listen to their suggestions, plans and projects and study the applicability. One of the objectives of this forum is to develop a roadmap to reach a sustainable city in the Emirate in accordance with the vision of our wise leadership in Ajman and the Government of the UAE.

 

Furthermore, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz Ali Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of rethinking the notion of sustainability to preserve the natural resources so we can continue to use them for the longest possible period to ensure the continuation of life.
  A number of experts discussed topics such as renewable energy, climate change, green buildings and various environmental practices, as well as how to deal with the current environmental threats and develop solutions to overcome them.

 

The forum will be held for two days at the Ajman X Center of the Department, which will host a number of scientists and experts from various countries that adopts environmental sustainability applications.
