February 5, 2019

His Highness (H.H.) Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, affirmed that every institution seeking to enhance its service level and to develop its work in order to advance the Emirate has to adopt the governance principles and use the latter’s clear methods and strategies to perfectly distribute tasks. This would improve and develop constructive work. H.H. uttered these words during a meeting with a team from Hawkamah, the Corporate Governance Institute, in the presence of His Excellency (H.E.) Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, executive directors, and a number of experts in the leadership and excellence field.

At the beginning of the meeting, H.H. stated that the Department does not only look at the level it has reached, but rather seeks to reach a better level and gain leadership in all fields. He specified that during the past period, the Department worked on measuring the maturity of its corporate governance based on an integrated project that passed through various phases, including an assessment of the current status, local and global benchmarking, soft skill training, and road map design for the coming years.

In addition, H.H. indicated that the Department sought to monitor improvement opportunities that support corporate governance, explaining that the Department believes in its human resources. For that reason, it worked on training internal auditors to follow up on the operational, service, and administrative processes, and to enhance the Department to reach its desired level.

H.H. pointed out that the Municipality Department adopts ambitious goals, relying on human resources with vast experience, always seeking the highest positions. That is why those human resources work hard on identifying the challenges and transforming them into development opportunities and processes in its services.  “We aspire to please customers, which is a step that has enabled the Department to be an intelligent institution available anywhere and anytime to every member of the community,” he noted.

H.H. continued by saying that the Municipality and Planning Department is considered to be at the forefront of departments that sought to implement corporate governance standards, by aligning its administrative systems with governance practices and applications and fostering the principles of accountability and transparency.

At the end of the meeting, H.H. instructed to reconstitute the Board of Directors, renew the Charter of the Board, and strive to solve all feedback, each according to their specialization.
