Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department and Department of Ports and Customs Inaugurate First-of-Kind Remote Inspection Facility to Facilitate High-Quality and Accurate Work Procedures

In the presence of HE Abdulrahman Mohammad Al Nuaimi, Director of Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department, Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, head of the Department of Ports and Customs, has inaugurated an AI-based remote inspection facility aimed at facilitating high-quality and accurate work procedures.

On this occasion, Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, stressed that the solid partnership between the two departments has always paved the way for achieving high quality aspirations through innovative ideas, such as establishing a remote inspection facility. He added that this facility allows for inspecting food cargos arriving at the Ajman Port through an inspection portal available at the Port’s dock. Al Nuaimi also said that the facility has a host of high-tech cameras installed and directly connected to a control room that was designed by the Foodstuff Trade Office.

In addition, Al Nuaimi said that his department exerts significant efforts to provide unique services to the public, adding that the department is keen on providing a perfect and attractive atmosphere for investors. He explained that such innovations and modern projects are fair to investors and the society members as they focus on ensuring food security and inspecting foodstuff in a short period of time.

Furthermore, Al Nuaimi said that the concept of the remote inspection facility is based on tracking any foodstuff cargo arriving at the port immediately. He explain that this concept is realized through cameras installed at the port’s dock as they take diverse and HD pictures of the cargo, containers, and contents, adding that inspectors may operate those cameras and navigate them to cover all angles of these items. Al Nuaimi also pointed out that these cameras can scan the description cards placed on food products.

For his part, HE Abdullah Al Nuaimi said that HH Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, head of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, has always provided support to innovative ideas and their holders to help them realize these ideas into actual projects for the service of all. He added that the idea of this remote inspection facility belongs to an employee named Ahmad Obeid Al Suwaidi, stressing that this project is expected to exceed expectations especially in terms of ensuring the health and safety of the public.

HE Al Nuaimi noted that the remote inspection facility enables assistant inspectors to record all information related to cargos arriving at the port, as well as taking samples to be inspected by Department of Food Laboratories and Environment. Therefore, he said, this enables the project supervisors to benefit from the productivity of inspectors when it comes to processing e-applications and the Zad Federal System.

Moreover, HE Al Nuaimi pointed out that the idea was accepted by the Department of Ports and Customs and the operator due to the features it provides; such as allowing inspectors to enter the inspection platform to supervise and track cargos as per the usual procedures.
